2018 Community College Innovation Challenge finalists announced
Challenge develops STEM and entrepreneurial thinking among community college students

The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) named 10 finalists for the fourth annual Community College Innovation Challenge.

CCIC finalists from Laney College's project involves integrating heat collectors on the backs of solar electric modules to collect waste heat that can be used for heating water. This innovation could be used during emergency situations, or for outdoor uses, such as camping.

The CCIC finalist team from Central Lakes College, Minnesota plans to develop a mobile app called Supporting Our Service members (SOS) to assist veterans and their families in times of crisis.
