Texas Advanced Computing Center Supercomputer Performs Laser Cancer Surgery on Canine

cyberinfrastructure and workflow diagram In April 2008, the Lonestar supercomputer at the Texas Advanced Computing Center in Austin performed laser surgery on a dog in Houston, without the intervention of a surgeon. The procedure was the culmination of three years of research and development into the algorithms, computer codes, imaging technology and cyberinfrastructure. Full Story
