Large landowners key to slowing deforestation in Brazil

An analysis by Brown University sociologists of data on land use in Mato Grosso, Brazil's third largest state, reveals that a large proportion of deforestation, as well as remaining forest cover, can be found on large private properties. The information could be useful to policymakers seeking to focus government anti-deforestation efforts.Full Story
