'Field patterns' as a new mathematical object

University of Utah mathematicians have proposed a theoretical framework to understand how waves and other disturbances move through materials in conditions that vary in both space and time. Their theory, called "field patterns," was published today in Proceedings of the Royal Society A. Full Story

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering.
