Study suggests oysters offer hot spot for reducing nutrient pollution

Virginia Institute of Marine Science-led study is the first to identify and quantify potentially denitrifying bacteria in the oyster gut and shell, with important implications for efforts to reduce nutrient levels in coastal waters through oyster restoration.Full Story

The U.S. National Science Foundation propels the nation forward by advancing fundamental research in all fields of science and engineering.
