PNAS study: Extreme-altitude birds evolved same trait via different mutations

But a new study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), led by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has found that these birds often evolved different blueprints for assembling the proteins -- hemoglobins -- that actually capture oxygen in the Himalayas and Andes mountains.Full Story
