CRISPR tames the wild groundcherry

The delicious groundcherry is a nutritional powerhouse, packed with Vitamin C, Vitamin B, antioxidants, medicinal properties and much more! However, several characteristics make them unsuitable for large-scale agriculture. Boyce Thompson Institute associate professor Joyce Van Eck and colleagues present research in the recent edition of Nature Plants that could change that and make groundcherries a common household name thanks to the genome editing tool CRISPR. Full Story
