The Human Networks and Data Science Program has published a new solicitation for proposals aimed at enhancing our understanding of human behavior and interactions by leveraging data science and network science across a broad range of topics and disciplines.
The many biological, social and economic networks embedded in modern human life and society are massively complex and intertwined. Seemingly unrelated events can have large, unanticipated effects, such as the emergence of a new virus in another continent leading to supply chain disruptions in the U.S. The Human Networks and Data Science Program seeks research proposals that can provide data-rich insights about human networks to strengthen and support our health, prosperity and security.
The Human Networks and Data Science Program supports core research on human networks and fosters the development of next-generation scientific infrastructure and resources necessary to effectively use “big data” to address large scale problems. The program also supports transformative research within the social, behavioral and economic sciences related to Harnessing the Data Revolution, one of the U.S. National Science Foundation’s “10 big ideas” that identify emerging opportunities for fundamental research vital to the future of the U.S.
