January 28, 2022

The NSF’s Director has invited Tribal Nation leaders, or their designees, to attend two Listening Sessions facilitated by NSF’s Tribal Consultation and Engagement Working Group. There are two additional opportunities for Tribal Nation leaders to share what’s important to them:

  • Tribal Nation leaders and their designees are invited to provide written statements by May 14, 2022 by emailing them to Tribal.Engagement@nsf.gov or mailing them to NSF Tribal Liaison, OD/OGC Room W 18245, 2415 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22314.
  • Tribal Nation leaders and their designees are invited to visit NSF’s virtual room designed to supplement this engagement.

This engagement is a part of NSF’s Response to the Presidential Memorandum on Tribal Consultation and Strengthening Nation-to-Nation Relationships.

The U.S. National Science Foundation propels the nation forward by advancing fundamental research in all fields of science and engineering. NSF supports research and people by providing facilities, instruments and funding to support their ingenuity and sustain the U.S. as a global leader in research and innovation. With a fiscal year 2022 budget of $8.8 billion, NSF funds reach all 50 states through grants to nearly 2,000 colleges, universities and institutions. Each year, NSF receives more than 40,000 competitive proposals and makes about 11,000 new awards. Those awards include support for cooperative research with industry, Arctic and Antarctic research and operations, and U.S. participation in international scientific efforts.
