World Quantum Day 2022

Today, is the first-ever official World Quantum Day. April 14th – or “4.14” – marks the first 3 digits of Plank’s constant –which set the quantum scale. This day is a result of an international, grassroots initiative and is intended to promote public understanding of quantum science and technology.
To celebrate, here is a list of ways that you can engage and to learn more about Quantum in our daily lives!
1. Quantum.gov –the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) is sharing fun factsheets about the National Quantum Initiative and about Plank’s constant!
2. NSF’s Quantum Information Science and Engineering Research – NSF has a long-standing history of investing in quantum research. Learn more about our centers and on-going activities here!
3. Quantum Zoom Backgrounds – have fun at your next Zoom meeting by using one of these eye-catching backgrounds.
4. Tweet #WorldQuantumDay – show your spirit by tweeting out your interest, ideas, or questions using #WorldQuantumDay! Find videos, articles and other content related with this initiative.
5. Participate in an event, such as a lecture or science café—see worldquantumday.org for a list of international events or to submit your own.
6. Educational activities can be found at q12education.org or by going to QuanTime.
The U.S. National Science Foundation propels the nation forward by advancing fundamental research in all fields of science and engineering. NSF supports research and people by providing facilities, instruments and funding to support their ingenuity and sustain the U.S. as a global leader in research and innovation. With a fiscal year 2023 budget of $9.5 billion, NSF funds reach all 50 states through grants to nearly 2,000 colleges, universities and institutions. Each year, NSF receives more than 40,000 competitive proposals and makes about 11,000 new awards. Those awards include support for cooperative research with industry, Arctic and Antarctic research and operations, and U.S. participation in international scientific efforts.
