The National Academies (NAS) is conducting a "Catalyzing Opportunities for Research in the Earth Sciences" (CORES) study for NSF’s Division of Earth Sciences (EAR). Community input via a short questionnaire is needed by March 1 to help inform the study’s charge and to advance the study objectives, including:
(1) identify a concise set of high-priority scientific questions for the next decade;
(2) assess infrastructure needed to address these questions; and
(3) determine opportunities for greater collaboration with other NSF divisions and directorates, federal agencies, and domestic and international partners.

The NAS CORES website provides additional details on the study, a committee-member roster, and an opportunity to contribute input by completing a short questionnaire by March 1, 2019. The success of this study depends on community input from across the entire spectrum of Earth sciences. We thank you, in advance, for your thoughtful comments.
