NSF ACCESS awardees will advance innovations in cyberinfrastructure accessibility, user support and integration services

Research cyberinfrastructure ecosystems are catalysts for discovery and innovation that play a critical role in ensuring U.S. leadership in science and engineering. An investment in national research cyberinfrastructure serves the evolving needs of the research community, increases economic competitiveness and opportunity, and strengthens national security.
The U.S. National Science Foundation announced an additional investment of $52 million through the Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Coordination Ecosystem: Services & Support, or ACCESS, program. ACCESS will improve the accessibility of national cyberinfrastructure centers and increase integration with systems and research communities on campuses across the nation. The 2022 ACCESS awardee teams comprise 71 researchers, students, staff and more than 90 partner organizations across the country. The five 2022 ACCESS awardees will work to improve the agility, accessibility, usability and coordination of the research cyberinfrastructure ecosystem.
"The ACCESS awards implement an agile and scalable fabric of innovative services with the goal of ensuring democratized and equitable access to NSF's advanced cyberinfrastructure ecosystem and broadening its transformative impacts," said Manish Parashar, office director in the Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure at NSF. "ACCESS will flourish through connectivity with a broadening spectrum of CI communities and other NSF programs such as Training-based Workforce Development for Advanced CI. It is exciting to see how many active CI communities, campus champions, and research coordination networks have agreed to collaborate as integral partners of the ACCESS teams."
The 2022 ACCESS awardee teams are:
- ACCESS Resource Allocations Marketplace and Platform Services (RAMPS), Carnegie Mellon University
- Customized Multi-tier Assistance, Training, and Computational Help (MATCH) for End User ACCESS to CI, University of Colorado, Boulder
- COre National Ecosystem for CyberinfrasTructure (CONECT), University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
- Advanced CI Coordination Ecosystem: Monitoring and Measurement Services, University at Buffalo
- An Open CI Ecosystem to Advance Scientific Discovery (OpenCI), University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
