Priority Areas
This slide depicts Engineering priority areas for the fiscal year 2003 budget request. Nanoscale Science and Engineering is expected to increase from $199 million in fiscal year 2002 to $221 million in fiscal year 2003 (an 11% increase); Information Technology Research and Mathematical Sciences is expected to increase from $278 million in fiscal year 2002 to $286 million in fiscal year 2003 (a 3% increase); Mathematical Sciences is expected to increase from $30 million in fiscal year 2002 to $60 million in fiscal year 2003 (a 100% increase); Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences is expected to increase from $0 million in fiscal year 2002 to $10 million in fiscal year 2003; Biocomplexity in the Environment is expected to increase from $58 million in fiscal year 2002 to $79 million in fiscal year 2003 (a 36% increase); Learning for the 21st Century Workforce is expected to increase from $145 million in fiscal year 2002 to $185 million in fiscal year 2003 (a 27% increase).
