Text Slide: Selected List of Viable but Non-culturable Pathogens
Caption: A major insight from the past few decades is the discovery that pathogens can exist in a viable state even though they cannot be cultured. This list gives a quick glimpse of some of the pathogens in which the "viable but non-culturable" phenomenon has been studied, from E. coli to Helicobacter pylori (the cause of ulcers), to Legionella and Salmonella.
