Goli Yamini is a 2019-2020 AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow in the Directorate of Computer and Information Science and Engineering, Division of Information and Intelligent Systems, at NSF. Goli is a biologist trained in the field of ion channel biophysics. She holds B.S. degrees in biology and computer science from George Washington University, and an M.S. in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University. Her graduate research include work in the Laboratory of Neurogenetics at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, NIH, developing software to study the influence of genetic admixture on alcoholism.

Goli earned her Ph.D. in Biology at the Catholic University of America, studying the properties of anthrax toxin channel and advancing the development of anthrax toxin inhibitors for biodefense purposes. Her policy interests include biothreat and public safety, funding for scientific research and program development, and STEM education. As the recipient of a dissertation fellowship from the American Association of University Women, she volunteered as a mentor and advocate for recruitment and retention of women in STEM. In her spare time, Goli enjoys traveling with her family, cooking, exploring the DC area, and finding new fun things to do with her sons.
