2016 SBIR Investigations Workshop
On behalf of the SBIR Investigations Working Group and the NSF Office of Inspector General (OIG), we welcome you to the 2016 SBIR Investigations Workshop at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Conference Center in Alexandria, Virginia on May 9, 2016.
The SBIR Investigations Working Group has been working to enhance the prevention and detection of fraud, waste and abuse in the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) / Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program since 2009. Together with investigators, attorneys and program staff, improvements have been made to protect the integrity of the SBIR/STTR program, as well as pursue those individuals and small businesses who have perpetrated fraud in this program.
Our workshop theme is "Protect, Pursue, Prosecute" and will consist of panels of experts who will discuss various topics, such as management challenges, fraud indicators and proactive investigations, prevention techniques and civil/criminal case studies. The program is designed to provide valuable interaction between key communities involved in the investigative process: Investigators, Program Officials, and the Department of Justice.
