Dates vs. Deadlines
In the last newsletter, we announced that the Division was considering
moving from target dates to deadlines for our biannual panels. We thank
those of you who shared your perspective on the issue. At this time,
the Division Director has decided to continue the use of target dates.
However, please keep in mind that target dates are intended to provide
investigators with a day or two of flexibility. For the reasons described
in the last newsletter, we will switch to hard deadlines if we receive
too many significantly late proposals. If you cannot get your proposal
to us within a few days of the target date, or have not discussed your
circumstances with the relevant Program Director, we ask that you hold
the proposal and submit for a subsequent panel.
