Dr. Colom-Ustariz has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Microwave Engineering from the Penn State University, a MSEE from UMass in Microwave Remote Sensing and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. He has extensive experience in academia, in both research and education, as well as in administration. Dr. Colom-Ustariz is joining EPSCoR as a VSEE after 20 years as professor at the UPR-Mayaguez, he also spent the last three years as a Chairman of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at that Institution. His research interests are in the area of Weather Radars, and while participation in the NSF CASA ERC and granted a NSF MRI (PI) he was able to develop with his team a Weather Radar Network for the Puerto Rico West Coast. As a chairman he initiated several activities such as curricular revisions, on-line courses, social media presence, outreach and recruitment across the whole Island, automation of administrative processes, research support to faculty, etc. Dr. Colom-Ustarizs email address is firstname.lastname@example.org, and he can also be reached in extension 7088.
