Biography:
Dr. Richard Nash is currently an Associate Program Director in the Division of Electrical, Communications, and Cyber Systems (ENG/ECCS). His portfolio includes cross-cutting programs between the three core program clusters (EPMD, CCSS, and EPCN), as well as ENG-EPSRC and all ECCS international partnership programs and lead agency agreements. Dr. Nash also manages ECCS activities in the ERI, DMREF, and MRI programs, as well as the National Nanotechnology Coordinate Infrastructure (NNCI), an agency-wide program that provides researchers from academia, small and large companies, and government with access to university user facilities with leading-edge fabrication and characterization tools, instrumentation, and expertise within all disciplines of nanoscale science, engineering and technology.
Dr. Nash joined NSF as an Engineering Science Analyst in January 2017. Before that he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution, where he researched the history of twentieth century evolutionary biology and conservation ecology. Dr. Nash received his Ph.D. in the History of Science and Technology from Johns Hopkins University in 2016. His doctoral research focused on the history of behavioral biology and the problem of animal cognition and consciousness across the twentieth century.
