Dr. Stephanie Hampton is Division Director for the Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) effective May 14, 2018. Dr. Hampton received her B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of Kansas, her M.S. in Biology from University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution from Dartmouth College. Her background is in aquatic biology, statistical analysis, and environmental informatics. Her research includes analyzing long-term ecological data collected from lakes as globally diverse as Lake Baikal in Siberia and Lake Washington in Seattle. She began her academic career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Idaho, followed by a position as the Deputy Director for the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis at the University of California in Santa Barbara. In January 2014, she was appointed the Director for the Center for Environmental Research at Washington State University, where she also serves as a Professor in the School of Environment. Dr. Hampton previously served as Chair for the Advisory Committee for Biological Sciences (BIO AC) Subcommittee on NEON Scope in 2015, as a member of the BIO AC from 2016 to 2017, and as the Chair of the BIO AC from 2017 to 2018.
