Biography:

Dr. Siddiq Qidwai is the Program Director of the Mechanics of Materials and Structures Program (MoMS) at the National Science Foundation (NSF). Before joining NSF as a permanent employee, he was toiling as the Section Head (acting) in the Material Science & Technology division of the US Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). Many years before that, the memory of which fades the narrator, Dr. Qidwai received his PhD in aerospace engineering from Texas A&M University. He is/was an expert in the area of computational mechanics and materials science with strong focus in constitutive modeling and multiphysics phenomena. Courtesy of NRL, he still dabbles part-time in biomechanical modeling of the human head under high-rate impacts and microstructure-sensitive modeling of corrosion. Dr. Qidwai is an author or co-author of more than enough publications, a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), and NSF allows him to serve on a couple of editorial and advisory boards.
