Biography:
Dr. Svetlana Tatic-Lucic is a Program Director for Communications Circuits and Sensing Systems (CCSS) in the Division of Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems (ECCS) of the Engineering Directorate at the National Science Foundation. She manages the interdisciplinary science and engineering research thrust in the area of sensing and biomedical applications of advanced technologies, while also addressing the underlying fundamental research.
Dr. Tatic-Lucic joined NSF as a Program Director in November 2021. She is a full professor with a joint appointment between the Bioengineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering Departments at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA. She served as Associate Dean in the College of Engineering before joining the NSF as Program Director. Dr. Tatic-Lucic started working at Lehigh University in 2002, prior to which she was a research engineer at Coventor, Inc., and Ford Microelectronics, Inc. in Colorado Springs, CO. She received her BSEE degree from University of Belgrade, Serbia, and her MS degree and PhD degree from Caltech.
Her research interest lays primarily in micro/nano technology, its underlying scientific fundamentals, as well as its cutting-edge applications in microsensors and microactuators, particularly in medicine and biology. Motivated by her industry experience, she also focuses on device packaging and reliability issues. She is the first woman chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Lehigh University, as well as the first woman Associate Dean in its College of Engineering.
Dr. Tatic-Lucic has also served the professional community in many roles. Most notably, she served as a TPC member of more than ten key conferences, she was an Award Chair for four IEEE Sensors conferences, and she has been a Member of IEEE since 1993.
