Annual Business Survey
The Annual Business Survey (ABS) is the primary source of information on research and development for nonfarm, for-profit businesses operating in the United States with one to nine employees. The ABS also collects data on innovation, technology, intellectual property, business owner characteristics, and additional content that changes annually for business with one or more employees. The ABS is conducted by the Census Bureau in partnership with the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics within the National Science Foundation.
