Universities Detail Declines in Federal R&D Funding for Science and Engineering Fields

When adjusted for inflation, federally funded R&D for science and engineering at colleges and universities fell 1.6 percent from fiscal 2006-2007. It was the second drop over a two-year period in constant federal dollars for these programs, an unprecedented finding for this 35 year data series.
