More Evidence for an Ancient Grand Canyon

For over  150 years, geologists have debated how and when one of the most dramatic features on our planet--the Grand Canyon--was formed. New data unearthed by researchers at the California Institute of Technology builds support for the idea that conventional models, which say the enormous ravine is 5 to 6 million years old, are way off. The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering. In fiscal year (FY) 2012, its budget was $7.0 billion. NSF funds reach all 50 states through grants to nearly 2,000 colleges, universities and other institutions.
