AISL: Program Webinars and Resources - Fall 2023

The AISL program team has put together a series of recorded presentations and live webinars designed to support submitters in the preparation of proposals for the AISL program (NSF 22-626). There are six topic-focused recorded webinars plus five office hour-type sessions where AISL program officers will be available to respond to questions from participants about topics covered in the recordings. Please prepare for the live webinars by watching the recorded webinars in advance.

Some recorded webinars are available now at Informalscience.org and all will be available in October 2023. Please sign up for the REVISE newsletter here to be notified when all recorded webinars are available on the REVISE website. RECORDED WEBINARS

AISL Proposal Goals

Overview of the six new program goals with a deeper focus on Goals 1-3 which are required of all proposals. Link to recording, passcode = AISLGOALS1-6. (Note that this is the same webinar from last year’s competition. It is still applicable and up-to-date.)

AISL Evaluation and Project Oversight 

How to integrate iterative improvement and accountability into your AISL projects. Link to recording. (Note that this is the same webinar from last year’s competition. It is still applicable and up-to-date.)

AISL Project Type 1: Synthesis Projects

This webinar discusses AISL Synthesis proposals and things to consider when designing this project type, along with common weaknesses in submissions.  Recording available in October on informalscience.org.

AISL Project Types 2 & 3: Conference and Partnership Development Projects

This webinar offers tips on preparing proposals for AISL Conference and Partnership Development Projects, including how to make the most of your 8-page project description. Recording available in October on informalscience.org.

AISL Project Types 4 & 5: Integrating Research & Practice and Wide-reaching Public Engagement with STEM Projects

This webinar covers the priorities of AISL Integrating Research & Practice and Wide-reaching Public Engagement with STEM Projects, as well as tips on how you might choose between the two types. Recording available in October on informalscience.org.

Creating Equitable AISL Budgets

This webinar offers detailed suggestions on how to prepare a budget and budget justification. This includes a discussion of the AISL solicitation’s emphasis on equity. Recording available in October on informalscience.org.

This session will introduce new proposers to the NSF proposal preparation process and provide helpful suggestions specific to applying to the AISL program. Register here.

Equitable AISL Budgets Q&A Session

Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at 2:30-3:30pm ET

AISL program officers will be available to answer participants’ questions about creating equitable budgets. Register here.

CHIPS Microelectronics DCL Q&A Session

Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 4:00-5:00pm ET

The AISL Program is conducting office hours on the recently launched Dear Colleague Letter: Advancing Microelectronics Education. The session will focus on how the DCL supports opportunities to advance microelectronics within informal STEM education.
