ADVANCE

ADVANCE: Organizational Change for Gender Equity in STEM Academic Professions
The goal of the ADVANCE program is to broaden the implementation of evidence-based systemic change strategies that promote equity for STEM faculty in academic workplaces and the academic profession. ADVANCE is a NSF-wide program stewarded by EES in partnership with representatives from across NSF.

   
AGEP

AGEP: Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate
The goal of the AGEP program is to increase the number of historically underrepresented minority STEM faculty including those who are Black and African Americans, Latine and Hispanic Americans, Native American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders. The program supports initiatives at institutions of higher education to transform equitable policies and practices that advance graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty.

   
ECR

ECR: EDU Core Research
The goal of ECR is to increase fundamental research (curiosity-driven basic research and use-inspired basic research) that contributes to the general, explanatory knowledge that underlies STEM education in one or more of three Research Areas: STEM Learning and Learning Environments, Broadening Participation in STEM fields, and STEM Workforce Development.

   
CREST

CREST: Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology
The goal of CREST is to enhance the research capabilities of minority-serving institutions through the establishment of centers that effectively integrate education and research. The CREST program supports HBCU-RISE and CREST-PRP funding in addition to CREST Centers.

   
EASE

EASE: Excellence Awards in Science and Engineering
The goal of EASE is to implement the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) and the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). These prestigious awards represent the highest honors bestowed by the U.S. government for STEM teaching and mentoring.

   
HBCU-UP

HBCU-UP: Historically Black Colleges and Universities-Undergraduate Program
The goal of HBCU-UP is to enhance undergraduate STEM education and research at Historically Black Colleges and Universities to broaden participation in the nation's STEM workforce. HBCU-UP offers various funding tracks to support the development, implementation, and study of evidence-based, innovative models and approaches to prepare HBCU undergraduates for the STEM workforce.

   
HSI

HSI: Improving Undergraduate STEM Education: Hispanic-Serving Institutions
The HSI Program's goal is to enhance the quality of undergraduate STEM education at Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs), and to increase the retention and graduation rates of students pursuing associate or baccalaureate degrees in STEM. The HSI Program is co-managed between EES and the Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE). It offers a variety of different funding tracks to support the heterogenous needs of HSIs and the different pathways to achieving its goals.

   
LSAMP

LSAMP Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation
The primary goal of the LSAMP program is to assist universities and colleges in diversifying the nation's science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce by increasing the number of STEM baccalaureate and graduate degrees awarded to underrepresented populations in these disciplines: Blacks and African Americans, Hispanic and Latino Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders. The program also aims to increase scholarly research to broaden participation in STEM.

   
INCLUDES

INCLUDES: NSF's Eddie Bernice Johnson Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science Initiative
The INCLUDES Initiative is a Foundation-wide effort and is administratively housed in the Division of Equity for Excellence in STEM. The goal of INCLUDES is to catalyze the STEM enterprise to work collaboratively for inclusive change, resulting in a STEM workforce that reflects the diversity of the Nation's population. More specifically, the INCLUDES Initiative seeks to motivate and accelerate collaborative infrastructure building to advance equity and sustain systemic change to broaden participation in STEM fields at scale.

   
TCUP

TCUP: Tribal Colleges and Universities Program
The goal of TCUP is to increase Indigenous individuals' participation in STEM careers, improve the quality of STEM programs at TCUP-eligible institutions, and facilitate the development of a strong STEM enterprise in TCUP institutions' service areas. TCUP supports federally recognized Tribal Colleges and Universities, and many Alaska Native- and Native Hawaiian-Serving Institutions of higher education. It has a variety of funding tracks to support the heterogenous needs of these institutions.

   
WEPD

WEPD: Workplace Equity for Persons with Disabilities in STEM and STEM Education
The solicitation supports fundamental, applied, and translational research that advances knowledge and practice about diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible STEM and STEM education workplaces and postsecondary training environments for persons with disabilities. The Workplace Equity for Persons with Disabilities in STEM and STEM Education solicitation is a NSF-wide supported activity in partnership with representatives from across NSF.
