G.K. Surya Prakash of the University of Southern California holding a liquid-methanol fuel cell, which efficiently makes electricity from methanol, a cleaner burning fuel. The conversion of carbon dioxide into methanol is one potential way to reverse global warming while producing non-polluting fuel, and is among CO2 recycling strategies being explored at the workshop.
