Fiscal Year 2007 Appropriation

March 8, 2007

The U.S. National Science Foundation is funded at $5.91 billion for the 2007 Fiscal Year that began on October 1, 2006, and runs through September 30, 2007. The Research and Related Activities account received a $334.74 million increase over the figure for FY 2006, while the other accounts were funded at about the same level as the previous Fiscal Year.

The appropriations for NSF were included in H.J.Res.20, the $463.5 billion continuing resolution that provides funds for most of the federal government. Last year, Congress completed action on only two of the annual funding bills — for the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security. The other agencies had been operating under a series of short-term continuing resolutions.
