Who to Contact About Your NSF Award

This page outlines who you should contact if you have administrative questions about your award from the U.S. National Science Foundation.

Refer to your award notice for the managing grants official and program officer if you have an NSF grant, fellowship or cooperative agreement. Always include your award number in any email or communications to assist us with responding to your inquiry. (Note that NSF grant staff are assigned to specific programs as denoted by the "Managing Division Abbreviation" in your award notice.)

While the managing grants officials listed on this page can assist you with most award-related questions, some questions should be addressed to others, as described below:

Contact the cognizant program officer listed on the program solicitation or announcement.

The program officer currently assigned to your proposal will also be listed in Research.gov.

For guidance on annual reporting or programmatic changes to your award, visit the Manage Your Award section of the NSF website for additional information or contact the managing program officer listed on your award notice.

If your award identified incremental funding for subsequent years of the project, those funds are typically released upon approval of the annual progress report, if funds are available.

For any questions about these increments, please contact the program officer listed on your award notice.

Visit the Manage Your Award section of the NSF website for information on award policies and conditions and answers to common questions.

Additional questions not answered on that site can be addressed by the NSF Policy Office at policy@nsf.gov.

Pre-award reviews:

Common pre-award review questions are answered on the Information for First-Time Awardees and Cost Analysis and Pre-Award Branch webpages.

If you have other questions about pre-award reviews, email the NSF grants administrator who initiated your review.

Post-award reviews:

Information about post-award reviews, including desk reviews and site visits, can be found on the Resolution and Advanced Monitoring Branch (RAM) webpage.

If you have questions not addressed on the RAM webpage, call RAM at (703) 292-8244.

The NSF Award Cash Management $ervice (ACM$) accessed on Research.gov allows awardees to submit cash requests and adjustments to open and closed awards, as well as award-level information on payments and award balances.

For assistance with ACM$ or any payment issues, contact the grant accountant assigned to your state.
