About the series
The U.S. National Science Foundation Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences (NSF MPS) supports multiple research programs in the astronomical sciences. NSF MPS funds foundational astronomical sciences research and instrumentation focused on exploring space and advancing fundamental understanding of the universe.
In August, MPS announced five new funding opportunities, including MPS Astronomical Sciences Research Programs (MPS Astro). MPS Astro contains three distinct programs:
- Astronomical Sciences Core Research.
- Astronomical Sciences Technology and Instrumentation.
- Astronomical Sciences Innovations.
MPS is holding four office hour events in October to share information with the U.S. astronomical sciences community about these programs and answer questions.
Dates, topics, and registration links for each event are as follows:

Each event will include a program overview followed by a Q&A session.
*The Oct. 7 and Oct. 15 events will cover the same material, so there is no need to attend both.
