Webinar Information Session and Q&A: OISE-DMS-JSPS Mathematical Sciences Research Collaboration Opportunity in Japan

About the series

The U.S. National Science Foundation and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) are offering a pilot Supplemental Research Collaboration Opportunity in Japan. NSF invites mathematicians with currently active NSF Division of Mathematical Sciences (NSF DMS) research grants to submit a supplemental funding request to take a short-term research trip (14-60 days*) to work with a JSPS-funded collaborator in Japan. For consideration in Fiscal Year 2025, supplement requests must be received before July 10, 2025. An informational webinar will be held on June 25, 2025 (5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time).

Please register in advance.

NSF DMS and NSF Office of International Science and Engineering (NSF OISE) representatives will explain how to get information about potential Japanese hosts and how to apply for the supplement. A guide to using the JSPS database for awards. Find more JSPS information and news

For further details about this opportunity, please contact DMS Program Officer Eriko Hironaka (ehironak@nsf.gov), DMS Program Officer Yuliya Gorb (ygorb@nsf.gov) or NSF OISE Program Officer Naoru Koizumi (nkoizumi@nsf.gov).

*The period of visit must occur within a Japanese fiscal year (April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, or April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027), and during the parent award periods of both the Japanese and the U.S. principal investigators.
