Updates to NSF Research Security Policies

On July 10, 2025, NSF issued an Important Notice providing updates to the agency's research security policies, including a research security training requirement, Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program annual certification requirement, prohibition on Confucius institutes and an updated FFDR reporting and submission timeline.

2019 cohort: Accelerating research to impact society at scale

NSF's Convergence Accelerator program, a new NSF capability designed to address national-scale societal challenges, has selected nine research teams from its 2019 cohort to move on to phase 2 of the program. Awarding over $28 million across the teams, phase 2 will continue developing solutions in three topics: Open Knowledge Networks, AI and Future Jobs, and the National Talent Ecosystem . Over the next 24 months, the selected teams will continue to apply Convergence Accelerator fundamentals, using innovation processes and integrating multidisciplinary research and cross-cutting partnerships to develop solution prototypes, and building a sustainability model that continues impact beyond NSF support.
