On July 10, 2025, NSF issued an Important Notice providing updates to the agency's research security policies, including a research security training requirement, Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program annual certification requirement, prohibition on Confucius institutes and an updated FFDR reporting and submission timeline.

NSF announces a new funding opportunity mechanism

The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) has started issuing broad agency announcements, or BAAs, as a new form of funding opportunity. By using BAAs, NSF is seeking to engage new communities of scientists and engineers, including those who may be working beyond institutions of higher education, such as in industry, nonprofits and other organizations.
