These terms and conditions are consistent with the revised guidance specified in the OMB Guidance for Federal Financial Assistance published in the Federal Register on April 22, 2024.

Important information for proposers

All proposals must be submitted in accordance with the requirements specified in this funding opportunity and in the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) that is in effect for the relevant due date to which the proposal is being submitted. It is the responsibility of the proposer to ensure that the proposal meets these requirements. Submitting a proposal prior to a specified deadline does not negate this requirement.

Regarding Vertical Integration in Research and Education (VIGRE) proposals


Dear Colleague,

The purpose of this letter is to inform the mathematical sciences community that the Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) currently is not accepting Vertical Integration in Research and Education (VIGRE) proposals. The VIGRE program is under review by a National Academy of Sciences committee and DMS is suspending the VIGRE program pending the outcome of that review. Please see the Revision Note in the relevant solicitation NSF 05-595

VIGRE is one of three components of the DMS workforce program Enhancing the Mathematical Sciences Workforce for the 21st Century (EMSW21). DMS continues to welcome proposals addressing the other components of EMSW21: Research Training Groups (RTG) and Mentoring through Critical Transition Points (MCTP).
