Dr. Karla Heidelberg joins the NSF Antarctic Sciences Section

Dr. Karla Heidelberg has joined OPP's Antarctic Sciences Section as Program Director for the Antarctic Organisms and Ecosystems (AOE) Program. Heidelberg has a broad marine science background and is currently a Professor of Biological Sciences and Environmental Studies at the University of Southern California (USC): https://dornsife.usc.edu/cf/faculty-and-staff/faculty.cfm?pid=1012507. She is also Director of the USC Program in Environmental Studies. She received her Ph.D. in Marine-Estuarine Environmental Science from the University of Maryland in 1999.

Heidelberg recently received the California Legislature Assembly Certificate of Recognition for Educational Initiatives benefiting underserved populations.
