NSF introduces anonymous reporting system for safety issues in polar regions

The U.S. National Science Foundation Office of Polar Programs Polar Safety and Occupational Health team now offers an anonymous reporting system to report safety concerns related to work and research in polar regions.

If you need to report a safety concern, please fill out the form. You should expect a response within 48 hours of submitting the form. Please contact opp-safety@nsf.gov with any questions.

If you feel that you or someone you know is in imminent, life-threatening danger, in accordance with the "NSF Office of Polar Programs Safety and Occupational Health Policy – Volume 1 (Industrial Safety)," please immediately stop the activity, report it to your chain of command, and email opp-safety@nsf.gov. You will be protected.

Of note, this form is not intended for physical qualification (PQ) concerns. Please visit the NSF PQ website or email Elicia Liles at eliles@nsf.gov for more information.

This form is also not intended for sexual assault and harassment prevention and response concerns. For those, please email USAPadvocate@LDSScorp.com or call 720-568-1083. Additionally, if you're located in the Antarctic and need crisis support for sexual assault or sexual harassment, please visit the NSF Safer Science Helpline at nsfsafersciencehelpline.org or call 833-673-1733. If you're located in the Arctic, please call 1-844-235-9059 or submit a report through the Ethics Point Intake System.
