Sheppard promoted to OPP Executive Officer


Paul Sheppard has been promoted as the OPP Executive Officer in the Front Office of the Office of Polar Programs. Paul's previous position was the Chief Program Manager for the U.S. Antarctic Program within the Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics Section (AIL). Paul joined the NSF in 2011 following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force. He was a polar pilot and Deputy Commander of the Joint Task Force – Support Forces Antarctica. As an Air Force Colonel, he directed all military support of NSF activities in Antarctica. Following retirement, he was appointed as the lead manager for transportation and logistics within AIL and has been the Chief Program Manager since 2017. Paul is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and has over twenty years of polar science support experience within the Air Force and NSF.
