U.S. Antarctic Program Begins Testing of Electronic Submission for Physical Qualification (PQ) documents

June 1, 2023

In the ongoing efforts to improve and modernize processes for the U.S. Antarctic Program, the Office of Polar Programs, through the primary contractor Leidos, will begin testing a new process for the submission of Physical Qualification (PQ) documents for participants.

The program will be testing and evaluating a web-based secure file transfer service that will allow participants to upload their necessary paperwork, and share the documentation with the medical subcontractor, The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). The goal of this web-based service is to replace the need to fax sensitive medical information.

Following the testing, an assessment will be made regarding the viability of use for the entire program. While not a guarantee, the test emphasizes the program's commitment to improving processes in the digital age, while maintaining the privacy and security of personal data. Additional information and updates will be posted on the OPP website and USAP.gov once it becomes available.
