SPECIAL EMPHASIS PROGRAMS
Special Emphasis Programs (SEPs) allow the agency to ensure affirmative steps are made towards providing equal opportunity to minorities, women, and people with disabilities in all areas of employment. The programs are designed with the purpose of providing cultural awareness and celebrating cultural achievements. Please visit Special Emphasis Programs for a complete list of observances recognized at NSF.
INTERVENTIONS AND STRATEGIES
The World Café allows individuals across the Foundation to have a dialogue and explore issues together, while encouraging new ways of thinking and shifting perspectives to create new possibilities. The open forum fosters an environment where individuals' input, knowledge, and wisdom can be shared, allowing the collective insight of all to evolve as participants honor unique contributions and connect ideas.
New Inclusion Quotient (the New IQ)
The New IQ is a 90-day process approach that will measure inclusiveness within the agency. OECR has implemented the New Inclusion Quotient (the New IQ), a set of change management tools to supplement the inclusion index. Together the tools and index will arm the Foundation with instruments and practices necessary to support diversity and inclusion more fully.
The New IQ inclusion index scores are calculated using a subset of 20 questions from the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS). This metric is separated into several factors comprising the 5 Habits of Inclusion: Fair, Open, Cooperative, Supportive, Empowering. Research confirms that workplace inclusion is a contributing factor to employee engagement and organizational performance.
