Kennedy S. Wekesa serves as the associate provost for academic affairs at Alabama State University. Prior to this appointment, he served as dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. He holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Biological sciences. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Guilford College, a Master of Arts in Biology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Doctorate in Zoology from NC State University.

Wekesa has received more than $30 million in extramural research and training support from the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Justice, NASA, and the Alabama State Department of Education. His research has been published in national and international peer-reviewed journals. Wekesa has served on numerous university, state and national committees.
