The agency seeks to recruit scientists and engineers for the role of program director. These positions serve a crucial role in advancing the agency's mission. Program directors serve as the lead program official responsible for the strategic direction, management and oversight of assigned scientific program portfolios. NSF supports the professional development of program directors through interdisciplinary activities, training and opportunities for independent research and collaboration.
In the NSF Office of Polar Programs, the Polar Sciences Section is seeking to recruit AD-4 program directors to join the team.
Polar Sciences is seeking candidates to support the following programs:
Arctic Sciences: Supports arctic research to gain a better understanding of the Arctic's biological, geophysical, chemical and sociocultural processes and the interactions among ocean, land, atmosphere, biological and human systems.
Antarctic Sciences: Supports cutting-edge research that improves understanding of interactions among the Antarctic region and global systems, expands fundamental knowledge of Antarctic systems, biota and processes; uses the unique characteristics of the Antarctic region as a science observing platform; and builds capacity in the U.S. workforce for polar-related science.
