This contract is hereby made between Party A and Party B in [redacted], [redacted] in line with principles of legality, fairness, equality, mutual agreement and in a spirit of friendly cooperation, agree to sign this contract and pledge to fulfill all the obligation stipulated hereinafter to ensure the successful execution of "[redacted] Strategic Scientists Appointment Regulations."
 

I. Effective duration of the Contract

The term of this contract for [redacted] strategic scientists is generally five years. The period of service will be from January [redacted] to December [redacted]. After the expiration of this contract, the renewed appointment can be decided on both parties' mutual agreement.
 

II. Employment Objective and Tasks for Party B

  1. Party B shall make strategic, visionary and creative research proposals to guide the advancement of scientific disciplines to become top ranking in the frontier areas in the world. Party B activities will be such that there are no conflicts of interest with Party B's research activities as funded for research in his home institution, as well as abide by all rules and regulations that govern faculty behavior in the [redacted].
  2. Party B shall cultivate talents and supervise postgraduate students. Party B shall cultivate young talents and receive them as visiting scholars in Party B's group in U.S., guiding or co-guiding postgraduate students (including post-doctoral students), guiding them to the international forefront of scientific fields, jointly publishing academic papers in top international journals (As appropriate for research conducted at [redacted] Party A, [redacted], shall be the first Author Affiliation, and [redacted] faculty staff or students shall be the first author) or publishing high-level academic monographs and mentoring young teachers to win 1- 2 national scientific awards or influential international academic awards.
  3. Party B shall introduce and cultivate high-level and scientists to be selected into [redacted], [redacted], winners of [redacted].
  4. Party B shall collaborate with [redacted] team to apply for 2-3 national important (key) projects or international cooperation projects funded by [redacted] national strategic development programs at the forefront of international science and technology research fields. Such projects will not present a conflict of interest or commitment for Party B's research activities in his home institution.
  5. Party B shall promote a joint research relationship between [redacted] researchers and researchers at [redacted] joint center to pursue joint activities including basic research in [redacted] to thereby promote [redacted] discipline to higher level by publications and other scientific endeavors.
     

III. Rights and Obligations

  1. Party A's Rights and Obligations
    (1) Provide Party B with service management according to the above mentioned employment objective and tasks.
    (2) Safeguard Party B's legal rights in accordance with [redacted] laws and [redacted] regulations.
    (3) Provide Party B with favorable working and living conditions, including: (pre-tax) paid according to Party B's visiting time in . Party B will be paid according to Party B's working time in.
    1. Party A shall provide the balance of funding since last term [redacted] and the relevant team from the school [redacted] and in the [redacted] Laboratory [redacted]. These funds can be used for laboratory facilities, for operating costs and for the purchase of experimental equipment or other research related activities.
    2. Party B will be paid [redacted] a month (before tax). Party B will be paid according to Party B's working time in [redacted] as well as for time spent in support of basic research activities such as publications and skype meetings. Party B shall abide by the relevant provisions of [redacted: CoC] US tax payment. Party A shall provide Party B with travelling fees (including Business Class Air tickets and Business Class seats on the high-speed train).
    3. Party A shall assist Party B and the cooperating team from [redacted] to recruit team members.
    4. Party A shall create favorable conditions to enable Party B to recruit high-quality postgraduate students, doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers. Party A shall help Party B and the cooperating team from [redacted] to recruit one doctoral student and one master student every year.
    5. Party A shall provide Party B with a non-proprietary, furnished temporary apartment or accommodation in four-star and above hotels when Party B works in [redacted].
  2. Party B's Rights and Obligations
    (1) According to the stipulations of "[redacted] Strategic Scientists Appointment Regulations", Party B shall ensure to work for up to accumulatively 2 months per year during the appointment with Party A (The required working hours can be negotiable when significant contributions are made by Party B for the construction and development of Party A), and shall get the payment and related conditions provided by Party A. Time spent by Party B will be during non-working hours or as allowed by [redacted] policies governing outside compensated activities.
    (2) Party B shall fulfill [redacted] strategic scientists' position responsibilities, complete their work objectives and tasks within the term of the contract, and accept Party A's evaluation and management.
     

IV. Evaluation

The evaluation of Party B made by Party A shall be conducted according to "[redacted] Strategic Scientists Appointment Regulations".
 

V. Revision and Termination of the Contract

  1. If Party B refuses to fulfill the obligations specified in the contract during the employment period due to subjective reasons, or wishes to terminate the contract due to objective reasons, the contract should be terminated with the mutual consent of both Parties.
  2. If the contract needs to be revised or terminated due to unforeseeable or unpreventable circumstances or events, both parties shall consult and implement with the mutual consent of both Parties.
     

VI. Supplementary Articles

  1. This contract is executed in triplicate to be held by Party A, Party B and Party B's Schools or Labs in [redacted] respectively, which shall become valid on the date of both parties' signature/seal.
  2. What is left unmentioned in this contract can be written down as an appendix to the contract based on both parties' consent after consultation The contract and appendix shall have the equal legal effects consultation. The contract and appendix shall ha e the equal legal effects.
