Open Season is November 10 – December 8

Federal Benefits Open Season 2026

The Federal Benefits Open Season is November 10 – December 8. During this period, you have the opportunity to enroll, change plans, change enrollment type, or cancel enrollment for the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program, the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP), and NSF Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Program. Open Season will not be extended due to the lapse in appropriations.

If you wish to continue your current enrollment in FEHB and FEDVIP (dental and vision), you do not need to take any action. FEHB elections are effective January 11, 2026. FEDVIP elections are effective January 1, 2026. You must reenroll with TASC to elect FSA benefits for the new plan year. FSA elections are effective January 1, 2026.

How to Make Changes

An agency-wide email has been disseminated to all staff providing information for Open Season. This email includes instructions for changing your benefits elections, access to the Checkbook comparison tool, and additional resources. Employees are permitted to use their NSF laptop to access Open Season information and make enrollment changes. If you do not have access to your NSF laptop, please email benefits@nsf.gov to get instructions for a workaround.

If you have any questions, please contact the HRM Benefits Team.
