Supports research that strengthens research infrastructure across the mathematical sciences community; training projects that complement the Division of Mathematical Sciences' Workforce Program; and conference and travel requests.

Synopsis

The Mathematical Sciences Infrastructure Program supports workforce development and research infrastructure across the mathematical sciences community and training projects that complement existing opportunities, as well as conferences and workshops that span multiple disciplinary programs, such as cross-cutting research activities.

Proposals submitted to the Mathematical Sciences Infrastructure program must show engagement in developing or enhancing U.S. mathematical sciences research infrastructure. This may include workforce development activities and professional development training. Involvement of students and early career researchers is strongly encouraged.

Proposals must explain the regional or national impact of the proposed activity and how the impact reaches substantially beyond the submitting institution or the location of the proposed event.

Conferences

Conferences, workshops, summer/winter schools and similar activities that span multiple disciplinary programs, such as cross-cutting research activities, are appropriate for this program. Proposals must be submitted to the MPS Mathematical Sciences Research Programs solicitation using the "conference" or “travel” proposal type in research.gov. For proposals seeking no more than $50,000, submit at least six months in advance of the conference or workshop date. For proposals seeking more than $50,000, submit at least nine months in advance of the conference or workshop date.
