NSF receives the 2025-2035 Decadal Survey of Ocean Sciences
The U.S. National Science Foundation Division of Ocean Sciences (NSF OCE) acknowledges receipt of the 2025-2035 Decadal Survey of Ocean Sciences report Forecasting the Ocean, which is publicly available as of Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025.
The report was authored by a committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Ocean Studies Board (OSB). Decadal surveys are a mechanism for the community to provide input to NSF OCE on forward-looking approaches to guide investments in research, infrastructure and workforce development. This is the second decadal survey commissioned by OCE. The first, titled Sea Change, was published in 2015.
OCE would like to thank the committee, its reviewers and OSB, as well as members of the ocean sciences community who contributed their thoughts and ideas. The division looks forward to reading the report and anticipates it will be impactful in the decade to come.
