Signals from most massive gravitational wave source yet

The merging of a pair of binary black holes produced gravitational waves equal to the energy of eight suns, the most massive black hole merger yet observed in gravitational waves. Scientists from the U.S. National Science Foundation's Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory and Europe's Virgo Observatory detected the gravitation waves from this cataclysmic event, which they have labeled GW190521, on May 21, 2019.
