In this video recorded in November, 2007 at the IEEE GLOBECOM 50th Anniversary Commemorative Lecture, National Medal of Science winner Leonard Kleinrock of UCLA describes with some humor the moment the first bytes of data were transmitted over ARPANet, the forerunner to the modern Internet. Kleinrock is credited with the development of the basic principles of packet switching, the technology that makes the Internet possible, and other major innovations in computer networking.
