Medal of Science 50 Videos | Millie Dresselhaus

Excerpts from an interview conducted by NSF’s Lisa-Joy Zgorski with 1990 National Medal of Science Awardee Millie Dresselhaus on the afternoon she received the 2009 Vannevar Bush Award from the National Science Board on May 13, 2009. The full 51-minute interview ran on the Research Channel. Once dubbed the “Queen of Carbon,” Dresselhaus is one of the nation's foremost experts in the field of carbon science, as well as a stellar educator and longtime MIT professor. The NSB honored Dresselhaus for her leadership through public service in science and engineering, her perseverance and advocacy in increasing opportunities for women in science, and for her extraordinary contributions in the field of condensed-matter physics and nanoscience.
