Software and Systems Foundations

The U.S. National Science Foundation Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (NSF CISE) supports unconventional, potentially paradigm-shifting research that explores new models, technologies and foundations of computing.

NSF CISE invests in the principles, tools, architectures and approaches needed to make future computing systems more reliable, secure, scalable, efficient and capable of supporting emerging national priorities in AI, quantum information science, biotechnology, advanced computing and resilient cyber infrastructure.
